Masterpieces in Miniature

Small paintings make the perfect gift (but...I have large ones too!).

4 of my smaller pieces will be for sale during the "Masterpieces in Miniatures" show being held at the Mary Martin Gallery of Fine Art in Charleston, SC (Nov 6 through end December).  The opening reception will be held Friday, November 6 from 5-8pm.

Come see what all of the artists are offering!  And if you're "picturing" one under YOUR tree, let Mary and her elves know!

Art Impressions!

Stumbled upon this artist today!  She paints miniatures which takes a special talent all its own!

She is LYNN PONTO-PETERSON and she lives in Mt. Pleasant, Arkansas.  Lynn seems to primarily paint with gouache, which she frames under museum glass.  But some of her pieces are varnished and framed without glass.  Her WEBSITE says that Lynn has "...won awards at 100% of the shows she has entered to date."  Wow, now THAT'S impressive!

1.  What constitutes a miniature painting?  Click HERE for one piece of information about it.
2.  What is gouache?  I found a brief but good summary by artist Ralph Parker on his WEBSITE.
