One rule that artists are taught is to never center your focal area.
Use the "rule of thirds" instead.
But have you also heard that rules were meant to be broken?

This little gem won the "Best Plein Air" prize in the Oct/Nov 2013 contest sponsored by OutdoorPainter, The Home of Plein Air Magazine. Well done, Ms. Craig! The depth created in this little piece is tremendous. The gray is alive with all of the warmer colors touched into it. Just terrific.
