"Live Oak Canopy" (shown in the post below) won an Honorable Mention award at the "Member Exhibition" of the Charleston Artist Guild on Friday! Judge was Everett G. Powers, who said this about the piece: "This is a competent handling of a typical Southern subject that stands above the average! Its unusual palette, with autumn colors, has a luminescence with the earth tones, especially under the trees. Although it is typical in its composition, with the accomplished use of the medium it works well here! The artist also used effective placement of the moss--she drops it in from the edge of the painting, which places the viewer within the canopy of the trees."
